This workbook is dedicated to environmental education, and to children, teachers and parents who care about the environment. I started creating educational worksheets in 2019, after the inauguration of the museum, to enhance the experience of school students that visited MuMa. I was then drawn into the world of Ocean Literacy.
"In my role as Vice-Director of the MuMa Museo del Mare Milazzo, I often find myself talking with students who are eager to learn more about the ocean and have endless questions. One day, I was with a group of 20 students, aged 7 to 11 from the Santa Lucia Comprehensive School of Pianoconte, Lipari (Aeolian Islands, Sicily). From the very beginning, I could tell they had tons of questions to ask me. We ended up talking for three hours about Siso's story, the ocean, human impact on the marine environment, and what each of us can do to make a difference. Yet, even after all that time, I still felt I hadn't shared everything I wanted to say. That experience inspired me to write this book, so that curious students can discover and develop a genuine passion for the ocean. My hope is that this passion will inspire them to protect it and encourage others to do the same, helping us raise awareness about the importance of caring for our oceans."
