This simple game allows you to draw an iceberg and see how it floats. You will notice that most of the iceberg is below water, about 90%!

Put water into an empty yogurt cup and leave it in the freezer overnight. What happens to water when the temperature goes below 0°C? It freezes. Pop out the ice and place it in a container of water. What happens? Draw a picture of your iceberg.
Did you notice that only a small part is above water? About 10%.
Do you think all materials will behave in the same way? Find different objects that are similar in shape to your block of ice, maybe a piece of wood, glass, plastic, a rock. Create a table and write down your observations. Note which one floats, which one sinks and any other unique characteristic.
Learn more about the evolution and incredible adaptations of sperm whales. An example of a marine mammal that travels from the warm surface waters, the Euphotic Zone, down to the cold, deep and dark Aphotic Zone, and doesn't feel cold thanks to a thick layer of blubber. Video link.
