This website is a digital support resource for the Textbook "A Taste of Seawater", both are being designed by Carolyn Berger, Vice-Director of MuMa Milazzo Sea Museum for Primary School students. She has been working to created educational materials on the Ocean since the creation of the MuMa Milazzo Sea Museum in 2019 and was motivated to create an Ocean Literacy textbook at the start of the Ocean Decade in 2021. Her objective is to publish prior to the end of the Decade in 2030! She first shared the book with the public, in a draft phase, during the 8th annual ICASE International Conference for Associations of Science Education in Cork, Ireland in June 2026 and received positive feedback and suggestions from other participants in the Marine Education Strand.
In addition to material made by the author including: videos, photos and images there are also links to other resources. Countless online resources to promote Ocean Literacy already exist. Collaboration and connection are key to offering the best we can all offer to promote and protect our Ocean. Links to these resources are found throughout this website, organized by the Ocean Literacy Principle they connect too.
Q: Question that should be answered in the student's Ocean Journal as homework.
The book is scheduled to be published in 2027.
At the moment the book and this website are WORK IN PROGRESS.
It will be submitted as an Ocean Decade Activity.
